备受全球关注的亚马孙大火持续了这么久，终于迎来了转机。此前据巴西国家空间研究所数据，截至23日，今年巴西境内森林着火点达7.8万余处，同比增加84%，其中4.1万余处位于亚马孙雨林，为2011年以来同期最高纪录。
在全球谴责的浪潮下，巴西总统雅伊尔•博索纳罗在上周日授权军方参与亚马孙雨林灭火。

巴西国防部长费尔南多•阿泽维多24日说，军方派遣4.4万人参与灭火，正赶往罗赖马、朗多尼亚、托坎廷斯等6州。
Some 44,000 troops will be available for unprecedented operations to put out the fires, and forces are heading to states to contain the blazes, Defense Minister Fernando Azevedo said.

上周五，欧洲国家领导人就曾威胁撕毁与南美洲的相关贸易协议，此举反映出国际上对于巴西的不满与愤怒，大火加剧了环境危机。
European leaders last Friday threatened to tear up a trade deal with South America, reflecting the growing international dismay and anger with Brazil as a record number of fires in the Amazon rainforest intensified the unfolding environmental crisis.
比如，法国和爱尔兰方面表示，他们现在反对已于6月份陷入停滞的欧盟-南方共同市场（包括巴西、阿根廷、乌拉圭和巴拉圭）的相关农业协议。
France and Ireland said last Friday they would now oppose the EU-Mercosur farming deal struck in June between the European Union and the Mercosur countries of Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay.

网友指出，这张照片的拍摄者早在2003年就去世了。
新上任的英国首相鲍里斯•约翰逊则在推特上表示，大火“不仅令人心碎，同时也是国际性的危机。我们准备好提供任何帮助，控制火势，保护地球上最伟大的奇观。”
British Prime Minister Boris Johnson tweeted that the fires were "not only heartbreaking, they are an international crisis. We stand ready to provide whatever help we can to bring them under control and help protect one of Earth’s greatest wonders.”
巴西总统：火灾与非法砍伐燃烧枝叶有关
尽管巴西目前处于干旱季节，火灾发生比较自然常见，仍有环保人士指责农民开垦耕地是火灾原因。
Although fires are a regular and natural occurrence during the dry season at this time of year, environmentalists blamed the jump on farmers clearing land for pasture.
据央视新闻新闻报道，因为当地土地贫瘠，农场主通过焚烧林地开荒，用燃烧后的树木滋养土地，在土地上放牧或者种植咖啡等经济作物。

博索纳罗也曾反复提及，认为巴西应当开发亚马孙的商业价值，允许采矿、农业以及伐木公司发掘这里的自然资源。
Bolsonaro has repeatedly said he believes Brazil should open up the Amazon to business interests, allowing mining, agricultural and logging companies to exploit its natural resources.
上周四，博索纳罗首次承认，火灾原因可能与非法砍伐燃烧枝叶有关。
Last Thursday, Bolsonaro admitted for the first time that farmers may be behind some of the fires.
不过，对于国际上的介入，博索纳罗则是相当愤怒：“那些国家向这里送钱，不是出于善心，而是要干涉我们（国家）的主权”。
Bolsonaro responded angrily to what he saw as foreign interference."These countries that send money here, they don't send it out of charity... they send it with the aim of interfering with our sovereignty," he said.
而在接受采访时，博索纳罗表示，巴西不应该因为火灾遭受“惩罚”。“世界各地有森林火灾，”博索纳罗说，“这不应该成为潜在国际制裁的借口。”
He insisted that the fires should not be used as an excuse to punish Brazil. "There are forest fires all over the world, and this cannot be used as a pretext for possible international sanctions," Bolsonaro said.
