在英国货车藏尸案发生数天后，案件迎来最新进展，涉事司机受审。有关遇难者的身份，也渐渐浮出水面。

当地时间周一，被捕的货车司机莫里斯•罗宾逊通过视频出现在地方法庭。

Truck driver Maurice 'Mo' Robinson appeared in court via video link on Monday.

10月23日，货车中的遇难者遗体在一个工业园区被发现后，罗宾逊随即被逮捕。

Robinson was arrested shortly after the bodies were found in an industrial park in Grays, Essex on October 23.

上周六，罗宾逊被控39项过失杀人罪，一项人口贩卖罪，协助非法移民罪以及洗钱罪。

Last Saturday he was charged with 39 counts of manslaughter, conspiracy to traffic people, conspiracy to assist unlawful immigration and money laundering.

罗宾逊在庭审中发言三次，两次是确认他可以听清陈述，第三次则是讲出自己的姓名、英国国籍以及在北爱尔兰的地址。

The defendant spoke on three occasions during the hearing, twice to confirm he could hear the clerk and the judge and thirdly to state his name, British nationality and address in Northern Ireland.

检察官Ogheneruona Iguyovwe形容罗宾逊涉嫌参与“让大量非法移民进入英国的全球组织”。

Prosecutor Ogheneruona Iguyovwe described the conspiracy charges as "a global ring" involving "the movement of a large number of illegal immigrants into the UK".

罗宾逊的律师Julian Hayes没有做出保释申请，他将于11月25日在伦敦的中央刑事法庭再度出庭。

Robinson's solicitor, Julian Hayes, made no application for bail, the UK's PA news agency reported. Robinson will next appear at the Old Bailey on 25 November. 
 


在本次案件中，另有3人被捕。同时，埃塞克斯警方仍在调查遇难者的遭遇，识别遇难者身份。

Three other people have been arrested. Meanwhile, Essex Police are continuing their efforts to clarify details of what happened and to identify the victims.

事件发生时，有外媒报道39名遇难者（31男8女）为中国人，但是随后有越南家属报案，担心可能有亲属在事件中遇难。



据路透社报道，英国政府已经向越南公安部门发送档案，希望能确认其中4名死者的身份。

Reuters reports that the UK government has sent documents to Vietnam's Ministry of Public Security in a bid to identify four of the 39 victims.



同时，有英国媒体报道，在39名遇难者中，可能有多达25人来自同一个越南村庄。



据BBC报道，2014年起，联合国开始记录移民过程中的死亡人数，从那时开始，在英国的货车或集装箱中，共发现过5名疑似移民者的遗体。

The number of migrants who die in transit has been recorded by the UN since 2014. Since then, five bodies of suspected migrants have been found in lorries or containers in the UK.

当地时间周一，英国首相约翰逊前往事发地区，表示“被这一悲剧震惊”。他在吊唁簿中写道，“整个英国，整个世界都为这次悲剧感到震惊，这些无辜的人本想在这个国家过得更好，而他们的悲惨命运却令人震惊。”

UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson said the world had been "shocked by this tragedy". Writing in the book of condolence, Mr Johnson said: "The whole nation, and indeed the world had been shocked by this tragedy and the cruelty of the fate that has been suffered by innocent people who were hoping for a better life in this country.
